Solis Massage Therapy was launched in 2020 and has gone from strength to strength despite a global pandemic during its infancy. It was started by Rachel, who in her late thirties and during a challenging time with her health decided that the only way to move forward was to make a change. So taking a big leap of faith, she retrained as a massage therapist, left her secure job and started her own business in a beautiful log cabin in her garden on the outskirts of Bishopsteignton.

In 2025, Solis Massage Therapy expanded to an additional venue in nearby Kingsteignton, and another therapist, Cara, joined Rachel in offering more appointments to accommodate those on the waiting list, as well as welcome new clients.

Cara and Rachel completed their massage training together at the School of Bodywork in Exeter, both acutely aware of the importance of a professional level of training in order to provide a safe and reputable service to those they treat.

Rachel has embarked on another challenge recently converting her log cabin into a luxury holiday let; Three Tree Lodge.

So all treatments are now carried out in the Kingsteigton therapy room which is a sanctuary that Rachel and Cara can't wait to share with you; a safe space providing you with a calm and nurturing environment to reset your mind and body.

ABOUT US
RACHEL
200223_solisMassage_0057.jpg

I'm a qualified, accredited massage therapist and proud business owner based in Devon. I'm also a happily married woman and mum to two gorgeous boys.

My journey into bodywork began during a tough time in my life, when both my mental and physical health were struggling. I wasn't coping with day-to-day life, and I certainly wasn’t looking after myself — which meant I couldn’t truly look after others, something that has always been at the heart of who I am. After some soul-searching (and a little bit of wallowing), I found my balance: a way to care for others while still caring for myself, through a career in bodywork.

When you step into my treatment room, I want you to feel safe, comfortable, and completely yourself — especially during those moments when you might feel most vulnerable. It's important that the connection between us feels right, built on trust and genuine care. My space is a non-judgemental, no-apologies zone. You can snore, cry, fart, have an anxiety wobble or drip snot onto my floor — I promise, it’s safe here and I won't tell a soul.

My lived experiences with mental health, women’s health, and my background working within mental health services have shaped the therapist I am today. I have a deep respect for self-care, emotional vulnerability, and treating others the way I would hope to be treated myself. I hold a strong value in always striving to do the right thing, with kindness and compassion at the centre of my work.

I particularly love working with women, supporting them to recognise their limits, prioritise their wellbeing, and nurture both their mental and physical health. Having navigated the rollercoaster of perimenopause myself, I understand the challenges it can bring. To better support myself and others, I've invested in learning about women's health, and I’m always happy to offer advice and guidance when needed.

My treatments are slow, intuitive, and deeply compassionate. I pay close attention not just to how your body feels under my hands, but also to the emotions and body language you bring into the room. Every session is tailored to what you need on that particular day, blending a variety of techniques to create a truly nurturing experience.

What I've learnt...Embrace the hard times; they make you stronger & more determined. But be kind to yourself, accept your limitations & ask for help when you need it.

HELPING YOU HELP YOURSELF

Self-care is the process of taking charge of your own health and wellbeing. How you look after yourself in order to promote and importantly maintain your health is different for everyone and shouldn’t be compared.

You have to make the first move, and we want to ensure that you feel safe and comfortable allowing us to be a part of that journey to achieving your goals. Whether your aim is to improve your resilience by lowering stress and increasing a feeling of self-worth. Or improving your mobility and easing muscle tension to reduce pain and discomfort.

Over time, your self-care routine may evolve and change depending on what you need at the time. Massage is not only a physical practice of self-care, but we can hold a therapeutic space for you to ‘just be’ or to listen with an empathetic ear.
