About Solis
A practice rooted in care, resilience, and lived experience

Massage is a powerful, natural way to support both physical health and emotional wellbeing. At Solis, treatments are designed to help relieve pain, reduce tension, calm the nervous system, and support the body’s own ability to heal — leaving you feeling more comfortable, balanced, and at ease.

The Story Behind Solis

Solis Massage Therapy was founded in 2020 by Rachel, during a period of significant personal change. In her late thirties, and navigating challenges with her own health, Rachel reached a point where something had to shift. With a strong desire to care for others — but a growing understanding of the need to care for herself too — she made the bold decision to retrain as a massage therapist, leaving behind the security of her previous career.

Solis began life in a log cabin in Rachel’s garden on the outskirts of Bishopsteignton, and grew steadily even through the uncertainty of a global pandemic. In 2025, the practice expanded to include an additional therapy room in nearby Kingsteignton, allowing more appointment availability and welcoming new clients from the waiting list.

As Solis continues to evolve, Rachel is now returning the practice closer to home, creating a dedicated garden therapy space in Bishopsteignton — a calm, private sanctuary designed to support rest, repair, and deep therapeutic work.

The original garden cabin that once housed Solis has since been thoughtfully transformed into Three Tree Lodge, a place created for rest, reconnection, and retreat. In keeping with the same values, Solis is now being re‑established alongside it, in a new purpose‑built therapy space, allowing the practice to continue in a way that feels grounded, sustainable, and deeply aligned with the care it offers.

About Rachel

Rachel is a qualified, accredited massage therapist and proud independent business owner based in Devon. She is also a wife and mum to two boys — roles that have deepened her appreciation for balance, boundaries, and sustainable self-care.

Her journey into bodywork began during a time when both her mental and physical health were under strain. Struggling to cope with day-to-day life, Rachel realised that caring for others — something that had always come naturally — was no longer possible without first learning how to care for herself. Bodywork became the bridge between the two. That lived experience now underpins her work as a therapist.

A Safe, Human Space

When you step into Rachel’s treatment room, the priority is that you feel safe, comfortable, and able to be completely yourself — especially during moments when you may feel vulnerable.

The space is intentionally non-judgemental and human. You don’t need to apologise for being exactly as you are. You can cry, snore, feel emotional, feel awkward, or simply be quiet. This is a place where you are held with care, dignity, and respect.

Connection and trust matter. Rachel believes that feeling at ease with your therapist is just as important as the techniques used.

Values & Approach

Rachel’s background working within mental health services, alongside her lived experience of mental health challenges and women’s health, has shaped the therapist she is today.

Her work is guided by:

  • Kindness and compassion

  • Respect for emotional vulnerability

  • Professional integrity and safety

  • Treating others as she would wish to be treated herself

She has a particular passion for working with women, supporting them to recognise their limits, prioritise their wellbeing, and nurture both physical and emotional health. Having navigated perimenopause herself, Rachel understands the complexity it can bring and continues to invest in learning around women’s health to better support her clients.

The Way Rachel Works

Treatments at Solis are slow, intuitive, and deeply compassionate.

Rachel pays attention not only to what your body is communicating through tension or pain, but also to the subtle emotional and nervous system cues you bring into the room. Every session is shaped around what you need on that particular day, blending techniques to create a treatment that feels supportive, grounding, and restorative.

Helping You Help Yourself

Self-care is not one-size-fits-all. It’s a personal, evolving relationship with your own wellbeing — and it looks different for everyone.

Massage can be a powerful part of that process. Whether your aim is to reduce stress, build resilience, improve mobility, ease pain, or simply have space to rest and be heard, Solis Massage Therapy offers a supportive environment to begin or continue that journey.

You make the first move. Rachel’s role is to ensure you feel safe, supported, and respected as you take it — walking alongside you, at your pace.

“Solis means ‘sun’ — a symbol of warmth, steadiness, and renewal.”
